Today is the day for another post! If you can see by my other blog, I'm pregnant with Baby #1 so therefore I've been slacking. I finally finished my mom's quilt and took pictures.
Here is the Pineapple Zucchini Cake I made. We had a zucchini going bad so I figured I'd try it. The hubs said it was really good. It has crushed pineapple, shredded zucchini, chocolate chips, and pecans.
I started a block of the week quilt and I've actually done pretty well. I also attempted an amish start (remember this is only the 3rd quilt block I've EVER made) and it came out okay.
Also I've been making pillowcases for a charity. For information click the link I've provided.
ConKerr Cancer-A Case for Smiles
My next big project will be a quilt for my MIL that says Grandma on it somehow for when we surprise them at Thanksgiving!

Lazy...
I haven't written in a while because I was busy undoing my mom's quilt. I didn't like the quilting pattern and then once I started undoing it, I had to undo the whole thing and it took way longer than I expected. I've still been baking and may have a few pictures to add in tonight or tomorrow.
I had a second job interview today so I'm keeping my hopes and prayers up. My FIL is coming to visit so I've been stressing and trying to get the house clean. However, it feels like I go in circles and get nowhere.
Well so long until my next update which will include pictures, I promise!

Monday night...
Tonight the hubs is volunteering at the Mennonite Relief Service so I've had some crafting time.
Sorry if the pictures in the last post are funny sizes, I can't seem to upload them in the right size, hopefully today works better!
Last night we baked together. We're in the mode of using things that we have in the house, which included NO BUTTER! So we started with a thick homemade chocolate cake which called for shortening. I always have Crisco for making an easy to store and use buttercream icing. But I don't have a picture of it. I just stuck a can of frosting on it and it wasn't worthy of a photo.
Second was chocolate earthquake cookies. J loved these! They are more of a cakey cookie and prior to baking you roll it in confectioners sugar. As the cookie puffs during baking the edges look cracked.
Sewing wise
Here is my first bag!
It was supposed to turn itself inside out and store, but I need a lot of fine tuning on it. It took me about 17 tries. I sewed one inside out, my seams were crooked, I accidentaly sewed the handle into the pouch, I put them on in the wrong direction, it was very frustrating. This is when I gave up.
I'm currently working on a quilt for my mom for Christmas (I like to get things done early).
I used some of my granddad's handkerchiefs (not sure if that's spelled right) and made a quilt top. He passed away in 2002 and with my grandmum recently passing I figured my mom could use it. This is my first attempt at machine quilting. I guess I would consider it stippling?? but I just kinda go where the fabric goes. It's not pretty yet, but it will be good practice. However I'm regretting making it so close together. It's going to take a lot of thread and a lot of time.

First Post!
Ive decided to start a blog. I've decided to seriously start crafting and doing things I love and seeing how that fares in a career. There will be crafts, cooking, and farming (well wanna-be farming) on this page probably. As my life changes so will this blog. The food will mostly be gluten free. If it's not it will only have J's (hubby) opinion of it taste wise.
So first one...
Pumpkin cheesecake
This is one of the first gourmet cheesecakes I tried to make, and it came out fabulous! This was my first attempt. I never took a picture of the second attempt without cracks in the top and out of the pan.
Blackberry cobbler
I made this for my birthday the same week. It was really good but I think it would have been better with a crumble.
A few of the cakes I have made and decorated
My first king sized quilt (with plenty of room for improvement)
My first baby quilt for one of my nephews (with plenty of room for photo improvment)
My first diaper cake for the nephews
My 4th large quilt for my Mother in law
More to update tomorrow!
I'll have my first bag with plenty of room for improvement. I even squared the bottom.
I'm excited to be here!
